When dealing with such volatile products you should always have some other people around in case you catch fire. It would be best to have someone standing by with a bucket of water. You should also keep a damp rag in your pocket in case you drip some of the paraffin. On that note always use 99.9% pure paraffin, other oils/fuels are generally carcinogenic in nature and could be harmful if ingested.
